Making a Product Information File (PIF)
Article 11 of the UK Cosmetics Regulation (UKCR) and EU Cosmetic Products Regulation (EU CPR) specified the requirement for a Product Information File (PIF). It is the Responsible Person's (RP's) duty to prepare a PIF for each cosmetic they place on the market.
To make a PIF you need to collate the following:
- A description of the cosmetic product
- A chemical dossier for each raw material (MSDSs meet this criterion)
- The Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR)
- Method of Manufacture (Formulation Sheet is acceptable)
- Statement of Good Manufacture Practice (GMP)
- Proof of effects (claims)
- Statement on Animal Testing
